    Spring....maybe in a coupla weeks?

The ice is out on both lakes but the temps are hovering around 40ish degrees with no end in sight. At least this year we will be able to fish on opener next week in a boat and not on a sled...haha. You'll have to wear long undies and carry hand warmers, though. The website has been updated with the

    Holy Moly...that's a lotta snow!

We survived the polar vortex here at the lake and it left us with a nice "dusting" of snow. Our resident Lake Association Vice President measured and found 27 inches of the white stuff covering the decks and driveways around Island and Mud Lakes. Whew. Spring ahead indeed. On a sadder note, we lost

    Look what we found!

While searching out a raccoon, Leo Offerman and his son, Alan, found this little fawn sleeping at the edge of the pond.

    Hoo boy...So.Much.Snow!

On December 28th we had 17" of snow on the ground! Since then the snow has melted a little and compacted...we have about 11" of snow on the ground right now.

    Whooeee...that's a lotta wind!

July 14th was one windy night. Our lakes area lost power for 8 or 9 hours, some lost trees, and there were leaves and branches everywhere. Yikes. By Tuesday, most of the trees were cleared off the roads BUT some people have LOTS of sawing left to do. Be careful.

From freezing to balmy in a week!

The forecast for our area is 55° by this weekend. Sadly, the all too short snowmobile season is done:( Bring on the warmer weather we are soooo ready for it. For those of you who feed the birds...spring is a critical time...especially this winter with all the snow we've had. Best choices for feedi

    Walleye Stocking

I left a message for Mark Bacigalupi of MN DNR Fisheries regarding the status of Walleye stocking Island Lake. On Monday March 19th I received a return call from Mike Knapp, Mark' assistant and he informed that Island Lake was stocked with 150 lbs of Walleye fingerlings in October of 2017. That's ap
